We were sitting pretty close to the front of the plane so we were some of the first people off. We gathered our stuff and started making the trek through the airport. I of course wanted to stop and take pictures of every little thing:
Me and Mom in front of the Great Wall mural. I have seen so many of these pictures on other people's blogs and can't believe now it is actually me!!!!
We had to cross through immigrations, quarantine, and customs. We basically just walked through every station but it was still an experience.
This was "our" line.
We found our luggage and were very glad to see that all of our bags arrived safely. We then quickly located our guide and we were off!!!
At the airport we were commenting how most airports look the same but after we left the airport......watch out!!
One of the towers at the Beijing airport.
TRAFFIC IS CRAZY!!!!! I am sure there are a ton of rules and regulations but no one and I mean no one follows them. It is just a free-for-all!! We had seen and heard stories of the the crazy driving but even it could not prepare you fully to experience the real thing:
New York traffic doesn't have anything on Beijing traffic. Our guide told us that if we went out by ourselves and needed to cross the street just find a Chinese person and follow them!! Paul and I tested that theory and it worked!!!
After checking in to our hotel. Our guide took us to buy water and snacks. The supermarket was similar to one you find in America but definitely had some interesting selections.
Our first Chinese store: Wu-Mart!!!
After our trip to the store we came back to the hotel and settled in for the night. We definitely got some good sleep!!! As I type this it is 6:40 am on Thursday morning. We are on our own today, so who knows what adventures we will find. Our tours start tomorrow so today we are just exploring!!!
It is still hard to believe we are actually in China. We are just days away from Avery!!!!!!!
