Avery slept throughout the night only waking up a couple of times and went right back to sleep. We could tell she seemed both exhausted and hungry from her travels to Nanjing yesterday. Believe it or not, Paul and I actually got some sleep too, we thought we would lay awake all night just staring at her but we finally dozed off. After breakfast we headed over to the Civil Affairs Office to finalize the Chinese portion of the adoption.
Getting ready for the day.
Smiles at breakfast.
At the Civil Affairs Office.
Paul, Robyn, and Avery with the nanny from her orphanage.
After promising we would never abandon or abuse her and agreeing that yes we did want to adopt Chu ShuXian (aka Avery) in the eyes of the People's Republic of China she is ours!!!
Me, Mom, Avery, Paul, the nanny, and Kathy. One last photo before we leave. You could tell her nanny was happy yet sad at the same time. We did exchange email addresses and I promised to send her pictures of Avery as she grows and get adjusted to life in Texas.
After spending a couple of hours at the hotel we all headed out to lunch.
Avery's first stroller ride.
She sampled her first chocolate ice cream at lunch and seemed to really like it!
After lunch we took a walk around town and visited a local shopping mall. Mommy and Avery got matching Mickey Mouse crocs, Grandma purchased Avery some toys and an activity bar for the stroller, and Aunt Kathy bought Avery an adorable pair of purple Mary Jane crocs. Not a bad haul foe Avery's first trip to the mall!!
Back at the hotel we were able to get this great shot of her 2 teeth!
She also tasted her first McDonald's french fry. She was not quite sure what to make of it!
And last but certainly not least. We know it's a couple of days late but better late than never!!
Avery's first Easter picture!!!!
Tomorrow we are heading out to a local park in the morning.
Thanks for checking in!

She is ADORABLE! I LOVE all the happy smiles - and she seems so relaxed with you both - but I'm not surprised. If anyone can love on and make that little miss feel loved and safe, it's you and Paul.
I am eating up these posts - I love all the pictures and you should have heard Anton's loud "AWWWWWW!!!! That's AWESOME!" when I showed him the Gotcha Post. We are just so happy for you both. I can't wait to see you!

she is so cute..... i knew it would not take you long to put a big bow in her hair!! all that black hair remainds me of Baleigh- and she had to have a bow for evey outfit- not that she would let you come within ten feet of her now with a "girly" bow. she look very happy and you and paul are glowing. can't wait to talk to you! - shanna
